Orosei

OroseiThis great gulf, due to its geological features and exceptional scenery, accomodates the largest uninhabited stretch of coast of the Mediterranean. It takes its name from the town of Orosei that is undoubtedly the hub of all activities of the area.
The old town is

located on the hills, overlooking the river Cedrino, about 2 kilometers from the sea. The origins of Orosei are old and the old town is the witness with a large number of old valuable stone houses.
Since Orosei is an important touristic attraction location, it offers any service tourist request; in Orosei there are more beds than in the all province of Oristano, Sardinia.
The problem of traffic in Orosei is strongly felt as the widely used SS125 passes inside the town and the problems becomes serious.
Orosei unfortunately or fortunately has not a port, but only two pairs of piers that were built to control and regulate the water flow of the tides in and out of the dunes along the pond, tapped for fishing since immemorial time.
The pier of Marina di Orosei is the closest to the town and therefore the more used; here there are several moored boats and the operational base of a company that rents inflatables (it’s not necessary the licence).
As mentioned earlier, the beach is about 8 km long and consists of white, not too thin, sand;
in some points the seabed quite quickly drops, in other points drops more gently. Behind this very long beach, the scenery changes ranging from dunes to beautiful and shady pine forests
